Two-Song Tuesday // OPEN MIC //

///////////////////////////// TWO-SONG TUESDAY ////////////////////////////////
[sign up 19:00 // start 20:00]
–> Beschreibung in Deutsch weiter unten

Calling all songwriters!
Calling all composers and instrumentalists and synth wizards!
Calling all poets and writers and storytellers!

Do you have new solo or duo material you’re itching to present?
Join us for Donau115’s semi-regular open stage series, Two-Song Tuesdays.

Your set may include TWO SONGS or last TEN MINUTES.

“How do I get booked?”
Just show up // There is no pre-booking // Sign up opens at 19:00 (first come, first booked) // The first performer will begin at 20:00 // No soundcheck – so be ready: Slip on, blow minds, slip off.

“What can I play?”
This is entirely up to you. Out of respect for our neighbours:
You may NOT use loud percussion and loud bass-heavy signals into the PA.
You are welcome to use our backline, which includes: piano // generic vocal microphones // small PA, accepting guitar/XLR cables (NO RCA OR MINIJACK INPUTS, so if you need converters you’ll have to bring them.)

“Anything else?”
Donau115 is a wonderfully weird musician’s musician kind of bar, come expecting oddballs.

Sk#10: Floating sound, Lebanese indie-pop, saxophone salvos

KEI WATANABE/SOFIA SALVO/INTERBELLUM

Kei Watanabe (Sri Lanka/Japan) performs ghostly mystifying and electrifying improvisations of found instruments, shuffling loops and odd occurrences. A minimal and wonderful combination of voice, bells, stringed instruments and electric hums.

Sofia Salvo- sola set (Argentina)
Sofía Salvo is a baritone sax player and improviser from Buenos Aires. Her startling and expressive style makes her instrument growl, squawk and soar into wonderment. Melody builds upon melody, stopping, starting, growing and creating something wild and unexpected.

Interbellum (Lebanon)
The project of Berlin-based Karl Mattar, Interbellum combines woozy chambers of delayed guitars and shining melodies with witty lyrics and masterful tonal shifts. Reverb soaks wistful melodies within a music that bridges 80s indie-pop, folk and ambient, a waltz of song and pedalboard.

Yacarandá is the musical branching of two worlds and their stories. The bandleader Lucas Dorado feels at home in several cultures due to his origins (Argentina & Switzerland). In his music he harmonizes Argentinean folklore with new sounds taken from the to him very familiar Jazz.
In South America Yacarandá is a tree that carries flowers with strong colors and whose roots can tell an infinite number of stories. Inspired by this Lucas repeatedly introduces melodies that have their roots in Argentinian folklore and whose blossoms carry the color of modern sounds.
Musical works presented through a unique constellation in which South American percussion and double bass meet electric guitar and vibraphone. In addition there is a voice which is used as a further instrument that does not sing any lyrical text but completes the whole with a light gentle rattling or invigorating flowing. An extraordinary quintet which through its harmony gives the audience space to listen to the stories like the relaxing rustling of leaves in a treetop.

Lined – the acoustic sessions

doors: 18:00pm
show: 19:00pm

Once a month, a selection of amazing musicians perform a 30-45 min to blow the world away. The Lined Accoustic sessions are free and open to the public (But we will ask for donations to the artists), which is, of course, a great way to support our amazing musicians. If you want to play as well contact me and show me your music!

This a great event to form connections and create a big music family. Especially since a lot of Berlin people left their home countries. Feel free to be your twisted self!
